Lose two seats, we should be wanting to lose 59

What voice would this be? This story is trending again on social media tonight as it was a couple of years ago when the Tories first suggested their latest gerrymandering to the electoral system that would see them gain 10 seats in England and Scotland losing 2 seats, Wales 8.

Glasgow and the north of Scotland would lose the seats, while widespread changes would see boundaries shift and constituencies renamed across the country. This has of course upset the SNP with SNP Westminster deputy leader Kirsten Oswald MP saying “The SNP will strongly oppose any attempt to weaken Scotland’s voice in the UK Parliament but the reality is Scotland will always be outvoted under the broken Westminster system – as we have seen with Tory austerity cuts, Brexit and power grabs imposed against Scotland’s will.”

Am I missing something here, Scotland’s voice already doesn’t matter in the English Parliament and the so called party of independence will strongly oppose any attempt to weaken Scotland’s voice lol. Maybe Oswald should be more concerned about working towards getting Scotland out of the English Parliament, maybe Oswald should be mentioning the fact that the 10 seats gained in England will result in even more Tory rule in Scotland for years and years to come under the guise of making constituencies the same size with the same number of electors, that could be achieved without giving the Tories an even greater majority. While she does say  “independence is the only way to keep Scotland safe”, actions speak louder than words don’t they and as Nicola Sturgeon is allegedly a world leading influence Boris Johnson will “grant” another referendum, wait, no he won’t because he doesn’t have to because Scotland’s voice doesn’t matter and the SNP have zero influence in the English Parliament.

I don’t care if Scotland loses 2 seats or 10 seats, it makes no difference what so ever to the standing of Scottish MPs and any influence that they might in their delusion think they have in the English mother of all Parliaments. The only sad thing for me is that one of the seats affected is not comfy slippers Wishart in Perthshire, now that would have at least gave me a chuckle if that clown was losing his seat. Either way though the idea for the SNP should be Scotland losing all 59 Scottish seats in the English Parliament, surely that is the whole point of the SNP, or it used to be.

  1. “The SNP will strongly oppose…!”

Oh well, looks like it’s a done deal then. All they’re concerned about is potentially losing 2 seats’ worth of short money.

They don’t get it do they, there is a real British streak that runs through most of the elected SNP at Westminster. They have totally lost their way and the reason they are actually there in the first place.

So we’ve gone from Blackford’s “will not…” to Oswald’s “strongly oppose…”. What’s next? expressing “mild displeasure…” ? Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the stuff independence is made of.

I hope nobody is actually paying to have these buffoons in a job.

That is a totally oxymoronic statement … but as it comes from Kirstin Oswald it makes sense.

What a waste of space she and her colleagues are.

There is just a real British streak that runs through many in the Westminster SNP I am convinced of that now, they are there for all the wrong reasons and have fogotten the real reason they are there, what a total Scottish Labour disaster that the SNP now are.

How can we criticise, when our own government isn’t acting in the interest of the people and hasn’t since 2014. I’m a nationlist and i want to leave Westminster so why would I vote for a MP to go to Westminster unless their going to settle up and not settle down like the New SNP.

To be honest I’m not bothered if UK takes 20-30 seat away from Scotland, until our governments acts in our interest what ever the UK does is fare game.

    • 100%YES

We should be doing everything we can to lose all of the seats not settle in like comfy slipper Wishart. The SNP are just a bigger disappointment every day and I am at the point where I wish they wouldn’t speak as they sound more unionist than the bloody unionists now.

The reality is the English establishment are only half the partnership and have no say in and over Scotland bar that which the Scots themselves grant. It matters not whether England has a thousand MPs. As equals to the treaty they still have no more say than Scotland. If they didn’t abdicate responsibility they would not be pushing the narrative of a big bad foreign government silencing them.

I totally agree but how do get people to understand that, and begin to act like we are a nation with our own rights and our own power and not at the whims of the English Government. How do we get the Britishness out of the SNP and get them to act in a manner that is for Scotland, I wish I knew.
