Odd and Ends Sunday 30th April 2023

It’s been one of those weekends so far this weekend, the car has broken down with a bad fuel pump so need to get that to the garage, the coffee machine has also gone on the blink, and my walk this morning at 6am was in the rain. These things are sent to test us I guess.

Royal Sick Fest – Wall-to-wall puke this morning with the awful undemocratic coronation, that half the UK don’t give a shit about according to the polls, about to be fostered on us so in light of that it is time for sycophants in the right-wing nut job media and their dangle berries to remind us how lucky we are. I won’t be watching, listening, or caring about any of this rubbish and I certainly won’t be swearing allegiance, or chanting, well not the kind they think and I am sure Charles Windsor will serve his own interests all too well.

I am also sure that all of those record numbers of people using footbanks will be relieved to know that the bill for this shit has risen by 50 million and some.

More than 2.5 million emergency food parcels were sent to families in need in the last year according to a new report.

Our leaders and so-called betters live in an alternative world than the rest of us don’t they. They are sick in the head if they think any of this is even remotely appropriate at this time.

Sticking to the Sturgeon plan and probably just as well in some ways for now – Independence is on the back burner and I appreciate that I am a couple of days behind on this story

The SNP‘s focus on Scottish independence under its new leader is set to switch to a longer-term policy of converting voters, rather than agitating for a second referendum.

The approach taken by Humza Yousaf will aim to push popular support for leaving the UK to a level where it is consistently higher than 50 per cent. (The I)

While there is a part of me desperate for independence, there is the other part of me that understands that the SNP is a mess, the YES community needs to be more united, the colonization of at least half the voters is proving pretty much unbreakable in the face of the worst Tory nightmare in my lifetime, good governance is a distant past, and the arguments are still needing to be updated and made again.

Humza Useless has said  “I hope we can get independence within five years. The way we get independence is making sure we get a consistent majority for independence. We do that and those political obstacles will fall away.” Wishful thinking I suspect at this point. He is sadly probably correct but what I can’t stomach is his cowardice and the language he uses. Mr Yousaf, who started his political career as a party activist, told ITV on Monday he would ask Rishi Sunak for a referendum “straight away” – though he did not appear optimistic about the chances of one being granted.

If we act like we are waiting for anything to be granted from the colonial English Parliament we might as well all give up today and forget it, the colonizers are not giving up Scotland’s riches without a fight and at the very very least I expect to see a far more adversarial approach to our dealing with the colonists and I don’t mean courts, not in this colony anyway.

We need more disruption and less compliance as a starting point. We need to start playing by our own rules and not the British ones, we need to grow a pair, that would be a good starting point. Alex Salmond commented

“The people of Scotland have voted in election after election not for who the First Minister should be, but for Scotland to have a choice on its future,” he added. Calling for Mr Yousaf to “reunite the movement” for independence, he said: “Continuity won’t cut it. It’s time to hold Westminster’s feet to the fire.”

Chance will be a fine thing.

Save me from this shit – I know I mentioned this other day but really. Who cares about this crap, according to one Celtic legend, the stone was once the pillow upon which the patriarch Jacob rested at the ancient Israelite sanctuary of Bethel when he beheld the visions of angels. From there it was supposedly taken to Egypt, Sicily, and Spain, before reaching Ireland in around 700BCE. It is said it was placed upon the hill of Tara, where the ancient kings of Ireland were crowned, before the Celtic Scots took it to the village of Scone in 840CE. (The I)

This is all just nonsense to me it really is, I know it means things to others I get that but it really is just a lump of stone, its symbolism might mean something but to guard it with old dudes who struggle to stand is a minter.

Yeah the latest one from no less than Michael Gove, Sturgeons pal , says that he thinks the SNP will rebrand themselves putting independence on the back burner. What is it he knows that we don’t?, Strugeon always wanted to change the name of the SNP. Prehaps they could call it the colonial party or vichy quisling party or the yellow Tory tribute party. News for slippery Gove is we have already put the SNP on the back burner the day they fixed the leadership election and rejected Ash Regan the only candidate who could have saved them. Westminsters game of string the natives along has been found out.

They might be in trouble if their finances run out and the short money goes but seemingly the colonial masters in England are going to appoint auditors to the SNP, what kind of message does that send if it turns out to be true, not a very good one. I don’t care if they rebrand or not as I do think the Yes movement needs to organize first then decide what the political vehicle should be. I would like Alba / ISP to consider becoming one party and with a decent name, neither name really works, to be honest in my opinion. Sturgeon did hate the name seemingly but then what does she know, huge disaster as many were warning for years to no avail and now we are here.

I don’t understand why the old guys are guarding a symbol of something they despise. The Stone (whether the real one or not) stands for Scotland, its independence and its separate crown. So everything they’re against basically. Of course they may see it as a symbol of Scotland crushed under English rule which continued since Longshanks stole it even when we repelled the invader. So maybe it makes sense to them…

I do appreciate that it means something to many but it never has to me. I have never been the flag waving, Flower of Scotland type, I actually think all of that holds us back in many ways. My Dad used to say that we need to know where we have been to know where we are going and there is a lot of truth in that but the distant past imagined glories are nothing that we need obsess on, that is what the BritScots stick to to justify their mistaken unionist beliefs.

“The nation will be urged to join in a rousing coronation homage to the new monarch, chanting in unison: “May The King live for ever.””

Can people really be that stupid?

Some will and Rangers might put it on a big screen at Ibrox for some of their idiot fans to get pissed at and fight each other. The whole thing is a shameful stain on Scotland, and the UK, but many in England still go for that pish. I’ll avoid it as much as possible next Saturday and take the day off on Monday as some payback for what that disgusting family has taken from us but overall they can shove it. It is going to be a hellish day though for many of us, I’ll go walking maybe with a pal or my phone and some music.

It seems to matter to the monarchy. it is not the symbolism in itself it is the thing that symbolism represents. The English Crown in control of Scotland.

I really don’t know the history behind it all other than how and when it was taken in the first place and I don’t really care all much either way but it does affect some people who feel passionate about it. For me, it is just his arse getting sat on it is the image that we maybe need to get across and what means, might get a couple of people to have a wee think about our colonial status.

Hopefully it will make some folk think. Then again I would rather naebody held a party in Scotland on the day. That would be a better statement but I doubt that will happen. The majority (of Scots at least) who couldn’t give a about prince Charles will be represented as a minority

        • GM

As far as I know there are no street parties in Dundee so far just a couple of agency things I think, hopefully that will continue. I’ll be avoiding it all like the plague.

The locals in my home area are in a small minority now so will avoid going back there next weekend. In fact they have ceased to exist in the smaller settlements.

Swear allegiance to that diddy Charles – you must be joking – delusional nonsense by the English and the Britnats. The UK/ Britain/England stuck in the Middle Ages.
