Their opinions don’t really matter but their delusion might – So Truss and Sunak are spouting off again about the issue of Scottish independence, I don’t know why they are all that bothered as it’s not happening anytime soon anyway but hey ho needs must. According to Sunak “Working together and uniting is what made us such a formidable force on the world stage,” the United Kingdom is the “most successful political union in history, why is it that everything is always the best and most successful in the world when it comes to this shit hole of a UK.
“Scotland has achieved so much as part of the UK, and the UK has achieved so much because of Scotland. We can build on that success for the future, and I have a plan to do it.
Scotland might have benefitted a tiny amount in the first few years of the union, Tom Devine certainly seems to agree in his book Scotland and Union, but overall I would argue that this is bullshit. Westminster Governments have pretty much asset stripped Scotland bare. We have had to fight to maintain our language and culture, we still live in poverty, still get paid a servants wage, our land is still owned by Lords, Lairds, and rich people not from Scotland. Our politicians still let us down, and far too many have been bought and sold. Our natural resources have been stolen from us, with the more recent help of the NuSNP in relation to wind and wave resources, so we are no better off than we were in 1707 and a hell of a lot worse off than we were 1706 when we were still a proper country and not a colony.
Truss when asked if she would agree to a request for indyref2 under any circumstances, Ms Truss said: “No. “The last referendum in 2014 was described as a once-in-a-generation referendum, we’re now in 2022 – that is not a generation ago.” Sturgeon and Salmond really fell into the once in a generation pish, those throw away lines might actually have been the biggest mistake of the whole 2014 referendum.

Ms Oswald, SNP MP for East Renfrewshire, said“Regardless of what Rishi Sunak thinks, the people of Scotland have already decided that they want to be offered a choice over their future, offered a choice, what. This is the standard of the debate from the NuSNP and why I just don’t see any real meaningful and fair vote anytime soon and why my enthusiasm and hope drains more and more each day.
Truss and Sunak know their delusions are just sound bites to the rolling out of the dead of Tory members to vote for them, unless the NuSNP take a far harder line those delusions will be enough to stop independence in it’s tracks for the next 10 years at least, and we will remain trapped as the colony we are.
We need as many people as we can to get behind and join SSRG and Salvo. The Alba Party ans ISP must endorse their approach, once finalised. Bypass the SNP leadership – they are at best followers, which is why Sturgeon announced her latest plan. Let’s bend them to OUR will with salvo and CoR to the fore.

That is certainly one idea and I do think that is very likely a way to go as Sturgeon’s strategy will fail and I am convinced the NuSNP strategy is a huge mistake so we need a viable alternative.

Reblogged this on Ramblings of a now 60+ Female.
In 2014 the UK made sure that the independence referendum question was promoted as – Do you want Scotland to remain in the UK and the EU? – Answer, yes
In 2016 the question became – Do you want to remain in the EU? – Scotland’s answer yes, and by a much wider margin than in 2014.
The obvious question since 2016 (using the UK’s 2014 argument) therefore remains unasked – Do you want Scotland to be part of the UK or Europe (EU/EFTA)
Since 2016 the question for Scotland was no longer one of the UK AND Europe, it became one of the UK OR Europe. England chose to vote to leave Europe and therefore opened the door to the remaining question for Scotland needing to be asked – The UK or Europe? That the UK doesn’t want this definitive unasked question to even be asked, let alone answered in Scotland, means that they already know the answer and are just stalling for time. That’s hardly surprising since the word ‘inevitable’ hovers above the matter of Scotland becoming independent within Europe.

Interesting way to put the question, I hadn’t really thought about it that way. Wonder what the result would be if they tested that question or Scot Goes Pop asked the question in different ways.
Thanks for commenting and sorry for slow response but off on annual leave just now so busy decorating but now I’m hoping second week is a chance to chill out.
