Something Different: Thor 4 – Love and Thunder

Thor 4 Love and Thunder – I took my son to see this earlier in the week, against my better judgement, and it was shockingly bad. I am not a huge Thor fan anyway but the Thor movies have gotten worse as time has gone on. Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale all of whom looked bored by the lazy direction of Waititi, who pretty much ruined the third instalment as well.

The film has the Guardians of the Galaxy making cameo’s as well, even that is not enough to save it. The film basically sees the return of Jane Foster as the mighty Thor played by Portman, I won’t give too much away about her story in case you decide to go and see it but Portman just went through the motions , as did the rest, with a wooden performance that was only matched by all the other wooden performances. Thor has been turned into this winy non funny character in recent movies, with really stupid dialogue throughout and this direction has pretty much ruined the character to be honest as Hemsworth was working with a script that was neither witty or funny and the character just comes across as stupid. Waititi has pretty much ruined the franchise now to be honest.

I’ll admit I am pretty much done with Marvel now. Black Widow, Shang Chi, Immortals, and now Thor have all been pretty dire. Dr Strange 2 was ok and Spiderman was above average but unless they drastically improve with the next batch of movies I suspect I will not be alone in moving on from Marvel. Thor 4 gets a 2 out of 10 for me, crap in every way.

I’m afraid Marvel movies remind me of British Politics. Gradually becoming the exclusive property of the hard of thinking.

have you considered writing your own trilogy? The Shiny Head, The Revenge of the Wig and The Baldness Strikes Back.
