Another EU Referendum?

So it looks like Boris Johnson probably won’t get his deal through Parliament as there will be a lot of amendments. There may well be some form of EU extension which has seen more calls tonight from the SNP and unionist Liberal and Labour Parties for a new referendum on EU membership.

The question I have is, would you vote in one? What has changed in the debate that’s says there should be another EU referendum and not another Scottish Independence Referendum. I know that I would be loath to vote in another EU referendum as long as another Scottish referendum is being refused, why should I play the British Nationalists game. What do you think?

No chance is there going to be another EU referendum in my humble opinion. They have the punters deliberately fucked up in the heid so as to exercise some control over them. The Anglobrit rulers would be too worried about the English population becoming unreadable – the well off losing faith in their fairy tales and the proletariat going on the rampage. For what its worth that’s my view. On top of that you have the three establishment parties plus Brexit who have a vested interest in keeping things generally the way they are in the UK. The financiers and old ruling orders having their wee joust with each other and skimming off the top and their egotistical lackies in politics and the media keeping their privileges.

Definitely a fight for the so called established order and rolling back the gains poor folk made over the last hundred years. I don’t know if there will be another referendum, I think the Tories would prefer a GE because they are well ahead in the polls in England and Scotland doesn’t matter. I was just thinking if there was another EU referendum why should I vote as they don’t give a shit about what I think anyway, even less than any other voters because I’m Scottish. The contemp for us is unreal and the worst I’ve ever seen it.

If we are talking about a full EU rerun that is…

It would be a drag wouldn’t it – I’m sure another EU referendum wont be welcomed by the scottish electorate. Sixty two percent of us have already made our position clear and reinforced by the subsequent European elections. But it’s not about us it’s about england. It’s quite possible that leave would win again. And if there’s any sign of diminishing support for remain in Scotland that would be siezed upon by the British establishment. So however reluctant we are, it will be vital that we trundle along to the polling station yet again in order to make our position perfectly clear.

My thinking is if we voted in another EU referendum without another Scottish one we are accepting their reasoning on why there shouldn’t be another Scottish one, plus they don’t care what we think and we also put too much stock in what the papers think and the unionists for that matter. Maybe it’s time to say screw them and just go for it. The SNP strategy so far has not helped in my opinion overall and has put us in a difficult position. Time will tell I suppose but I would be loath to support another referendum I must admit. Sick of being used and ignored.

I want an Indyref not an EU ref, but I agree with John Lamb that if an EU ref happens we must get out and vote remain. If we don’t it will be used against us. If we do, it again demonstrates one of the the clear differences between Scotland and rUK. Of course the English will ignore us, but they will be clearly seen to do so by voters in Scotland. If the remain vote in Scotland collapsed it would be used to heavily insinuate that the indy vote was also doing so. Don’t give them another weapon.
I’m not surprised you’re sick of things the way they are, but giving up in despair won’t help. Believe me, the UK state would be really pleased to see the remain vote in Scotland collapse, and if that’s not a good reason for voting remain I don’t know what is.

I was just wondering if we didn’t take part in any referendum, but have a clear campaign of not doing so and why not, even showing never ending clips of the Tories walking out at Westminster every time an SNP MP speaks to highlight how much our voice does not count now matter what we say and how we vote might get a clear message across and there is also the fact that taking part in one while they continue to refuse a Scottish one might legitimise their refusal to Scotland for indy 2.

I’ll always vote. If you don’t a government is likely to say that the people don’t care, so don’t require to vote, all decisions made by govt. and imposed. Too far fetched? Need to show ID at a polling station, still think it’s too far fetched?

I’m always the same but I’m just thinking how do we get the message across that enough is enough, when do we stop playing by the British rule book and not accept it anymore. There will more than likely be a GE before another referendum but either way the British can’t have it both ways, we can’t allow that.

General election please with SNP manifesto declaring 50 or more MPs means that Scotland is formally proposing independence. Stuff indyref. Negotiations between Holyrood and an all-party Scottish Grand Committee. Both Commons and Lords stays out of it.

    • George
I completely agree but I don’t think there will be one. It looks like Labour, Liberals and the SNP are bottling it and end up looking stupid and busted flushes. The SNP have said they won’t have an independence majority MP declaration in their manifesto so I don’t know where we go from here. I agree with Wings and Craig Murray the SNP have played this so badly.
