It’s the weekend and here are some songs that I like.
The Libations Caledonia.
Tris over at Munquins put me onto this version of a classic and it’s my favourite version of the song. I actually just bought it again this week as I had lost my download, money raised goes to food banks so if like it, download it from Itunes or Amazon for 79P and it all goes to a good cause.
Elvis Presley If I can Dream.
I’m not a massive Elvis fan but I love this song and his performance is really good. If only he had stuck to this style in his later career it may have been very different for him.
REO Speedwagon Roll With The Changes.
Not one of their more well known songs in the UK but a great track.
UFO Lonely Heart.
One of the first UFO tracks I heard my brother play and I really liked. They are a good band and while more a singles band for me they are still a band I like a lot.
Deep Purple Perfect Strangers.
Again not a huge fan of the band but this came out when the original line up returned after Blackmore and Gillan buried the hatchet and it’s one of their best in my opinion.
Duran Duran Palomino.
An under rated song from and under rated album, I love this song.
Porcupine Tree Arriving Somewhere But Not Here.
Came across this song by accident and just loved it. The band have split now but worth checking out as they are really interesting.
Howard Jones Hide and Seek.
I loved this the moment I heard it in my youth in the early 80’s.
Ultravox The Voice.
First band I saw live and this song live blew me away in around 1982.
Thin Lizzy Killer On The Loose.
What a tragic loss Phil Lynot was, good singles band for me but another from my youth.
Neil Diamond Do I Wanna Be Yours.
From his last album and a classic.
Pat Benatar Invincible.
An 80s American PopRock classic.
Peter Gabriel – Don’t Give Up (ft. Kate Bush).
I remember having a hard time mid 80’s. Usual didn’t know who I was or where I was going. Growing up in Whitfield, unemployment every where, no aspiration or hope and this song just hit home for me at that time. Its a beautiful song.
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast.
I was having a hair period and liked this song but top of the pops used to piss me off as they only ever played half the bloody song.
Just some songs I like in no order or favourite artist, hope you found something you liked.
Of course these videos are uploaded for discussion and debate purposes , to educate those who are unfamiliar with said bands and songs , to be used in a fair and proper manner that will not breach copyright . Having said that you can’t have debate without an objective opposing view , the only thing I can say is NO RAINBOW shame on you . I’ll come up with an alternative list tomorrow .
Ricky
I just picked ones I like in no particular order or favourite bands. Might do a Rainbow one in the future. Look forward to seeing what your list looks like.
Thanks for commenting.

Interesting and eclectic choice of music.
Someday I must do a choice like that.
I was lucky enough to meet the Libations. What utterly great guys they are. And what a voice Mr Docherty has. Also a fantastic guy. Proud to know them and very proud of the fact that they did this record, which charted, for charity.
I hope they will re-promote it for our next campaign.
Tris
Did Mr Docherty release any other music, I have often wondered as he does have an amazing vocals.
