Something Different: Jim Duffy.

I have seen some really good players play for Dundee Football Club. Jimmy Murphy, Billie Pirie, Bobby Glennie, Tommy Coyne to Claudio Cannigia, to name a few, but my favourite Dundee player of all time is Jim Duffy.

Signed by Manager Archie Knox from Morton in 1985 for around £35.000 Jim was to become one of the best centre halfs to ever play for the Dees and to never have played for Scotland which to my mind was shocking.

Jim played 200 times for the mighty Dees over three periods as a player at the club. In season 1988 it looked like it was all over when Jim suffered a serious injury at Ibrox that ended his career, or so we thought. 1990, Dundee bottom of the league, I’m depressed, and then Jim Duffy makes a come back and a football God had returned as far as I was concerned. He very nearly kept us up too.

Jim went on to manage the club twice to varying degrees of success and is currently Manager of Morton but to me he will always be my favourite Dundee player ever.
